Casual Research Assistant (Zawati)

Position Summary:

  • Ensure the recruitment of participants
  • Analysis of quantitative data
  • Assist in the development and drafting of policy for relevant stakeholders
  • Assist in the drafting of submissions to peer reviewed journals
  • Collaborate with the team at the Centre of Genomics and Policy
  • Perform any other activity assigned by the research supervisor


Qualifications:

  • The research assistant should be a graduate student in ethics/bioethics or at least have a bachelor’s degree in one of the following academic disciplines or equivalent: sociology, anthropology, political sciences, psychology, health management or, and relevant experience in conducting empirical fieldwork and analyzing qualitative data.
  • Good practical experience in research and quantitative analysis.
  • Experience with data analysis relevant software (eg. Excel or SPSS).
  • Possess the capacity to synthesize information and data.
  • Conduct all research activities within the prescribed period/delay and be able to respect the research ethics as well as the predetermined deadlines.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team and be confortable engaging people in-person and remotely.
  • Excellent in English and working knowledge of French.

Assets:

  • Relevant experience in conducting empirical fieldwork and analyzing qualitative data and able to conduct interviews/focus groups.
  • Experience qualitative coding/analysis and relevant software (e.g. NVivo, Lime).

Working Hours:

  • 14 hours during the academic year and 40 hours in the summer

Tâches

  • Rédaction de documents de travail (Policy brief, lignes directrices et recommandations)
  • Aider la professeure dans la réalisation d’activités de mobilisation et diffusion des connaissances pour différents publics (universitaire et non universitaire)
  • Assurer le suivi et la coordination avec les partenaires du projet

Profil recherché

  • Être inscrit.e dans un programme de 2ième (université canadienne) dans une discipline des sciences sociales et humaines ou de toute autre discipline pertinente.
  • Avoir un bon esprit de synthèse et des facilité rédactionnelles.
  • Être à l’aise avec les outils de mise en page.
  • Facilités à s’exprimer, à communiquer et à travailler/collaborer en dehors du milieu académique.
  • Travailler à partir d’une perspective multidisciplinaire ou avoir démontré être en mesure de travailler à partir d’une perspective multidisciplinaire.
  • Excellente maitrise du français et de l’anglais à l’écrit et l’oral.
  • Personne autonome, flexible et débrouillarde.

Sera considéré comme un aout

  • Expérience de terrain et en recherche collaborative/participative
  • Connaissances appuyées de certains logiciels de présentation de contenu interactif (pages, genially, etc).

Avoir un profil et un parcours non conventionnel en recherche ne devrait surtout pas vous faire hésiter à postuler.
