Je vis sur le Nitaskinan, territoire Atikamekw Nehirowisiw volé et occupé (au soi-disant Canada) dont je bénéficie en tant que colon blanc.he d’ascendance française et écossaise. J’utilise le pronom iel et des accords non genrés.

Je suis Directeur.ice de la recherche à JusticeTrans, un organisme à but non-lucratif qui promouvoit l’accès à la justice pour les personnes trans. Je suis aussi candidat.e au PhD en criminologie à l’Université de Montréal. De façon générale, j’étudie le contrôle social et pénal de populations marginalisées comme les femmes, les personnes trans, les personnes autochtones, les jeunes et les victimes d’actes criminels. Mes recherches sociologiques et interdisciplinaires relèvent d’un engagement théorique et pratique envers les communautés, dans une optique de justice sociale­. Au cours des dernières années, j’ai développé.e une expertise quant aux occupations en prison, que je conceptualise comme loisirs. Je porte aussi un regard critique sur ma discipline, la criminologie.

I am a non binary trans and queer, disabled and autistic ac(ademic)tivist. I live on Nitaskinan, stolen and occupied Atikamekw Nehirowisiw land (in so-called Canada) and I benefit from this as a white settler of French and Scottish ancestry. My pronouns are they/them.

I am the Research Director at JusticeTrans, a non-profit which promotes access to justice for trans people. I am also a criminology PhD candidate at the Université de Montréal. Overall, my work centers social and penal control of marginalized or vulnerable populations such as women, trans people, Indigenous people, youth, and victims of crime. My sociological and interdisciplinary approach is rooted in a theoretical and practical commitment to social justice and community-building. In recent years, I have developed an expertise as to in-prison occupations, which I broadly conceptualize as leisure. I also engage in critical reflections on my discipline, criminology.
