Note biographique

Bartha Maria Knoppers est Directrice du Centre de Génomique et Politiques de l'Université McGill ainsi que chercheure associée au Centre de recherche en droit public de l'Université de Montréal. Mme Knoppers travaille plus particulièrement dans le domaine du droit et de l'éthique des biotechnologies plus précisément sur des sujets en pleine émergence tels que les biobanques, la recherche sur les cellules souches, le clonage, la recherche en génétique des populations, la pharmacogénomique et la santé publique. Avant de poursuivre des études en droit, Mme Knoppers a complété une maîtrise en littérature comparée à l'Université d'Alberta. Elle détient son doctorat en droit de l'Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne

Trois doctorats Honoris Causa en droit lui ont été décernés: des universités de l'Alberta en 2008, MacMaster en 2007 et de Waterloo en 2001. Elle a également obtenu un doctorat Honoris Causa en médecine de l'Université de Paris V en 2002. Mme Knoppers a reçu, en 2002, le titre d'Officier de l'Ordre du Canada.
